"For the first time, Portuguese consumers can now access a free digital debit card that combines everyday expenses with the option to switch to Pay in 3 directly in the Klarna app — allowing them to split the cost of any purchase, in any online or offline store, into three interest-free instalments," reads a statement accessed by Notícias ao Minuto.

In addition to the main features of a debit card, it explains, the Klarna Card has "membership plans with different levels of benefits, from cashback or travel advantages to premium subscriptions in different lifestyle products."

"We believe consumers shouldn't have to resort to more expensive credit to access premium benefits," says David Sandström, CMO of Klarna, quoted in the press release.

The executive further adds: "For decades, exclusive perks such as access to airport lounges, concierge service subscriptions, and premium travel insurance were only available to elite credit card holders. Klarna is changing that. Through the Klarna Membership Plan, consumers can enjoy digital, travel, and even lifestyle experiences in an integrated plan, without the burden of credit-based rewards with hidden costs."

Klarna adds that, "additionally, two new modalities will be launched in the coming weeks that offer even more exclusive advantages, including premium physical cards, enhanced cashback, travel benefits, and combined subscriptions."
