In the area of Cometlis [Lisbon Metropolitan Command], although in the first 10 months of 2025 we recorded an increase in general crime of around 6.1%, on the other hand, violent and serious crime decreased by 1.9% compared to the same period in 2024," said the commander of Cometlis, Luís Elias, at the ceremony marking the 158th anniversary of the country's largest police command.
The commander of the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP (Public Security Police) considered this decrease in violent and serious crime "a very relevant trend," because crimes related to this type of crime "are those that have the greatest impact on citizens' sense of security."

I wouldn´t get too excited. Violent and serious crime is down by less than 2%, which is not a significant change. Not as if it has halved. The decline could also be due to lower reporting of such crimes. So ultimately, there could even have been an increase in this type of crime, accompanied by less reporting which results in a ´lower´ crime statistic.
