Searches are underway today at the doctor's office, who prescribed more than €9 million worth of medication.
The endocrinologist prescribed medications such as Ozempic, Victoza, and Trulicity to patients claiming they were diabetic. However, the medications were prescribed for weight loss purposes, according to a report by NM.
According to the investigation, the scheme involved issuing prescriptions to patients who wanted to lose weight by pretending to be diabetic in order to receive state subsidies. The doctor allegedly issued prescriptions totalling 9 million euros.
Ozempic pens appeared as part of the treatment for type 2 diabetes, but quickly began to be used for almost miraculous weight loss.
