"The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission, [...] in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Sea, municipalities and various regional organisations in the agricultural sector, is moving forward with a series of initiatives to support producers affected by recent natural phenomena in the region," the institution announced in a statement.
The public body, whose main objective is to promote regional development and territorial cohesion in the southern region of the country, informs that, following the damage caused by Storm Claudia, a survey of agricultural losses is underway.
“Farmers who have registered losses can report the incidents using the incident report form available on the official CCDR Algarve channels,” according to the statement.
After completion, the document can be sent to vicepresidencia-ap@ccdr-alg.pt or delivered in person to the Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center, the Proximity Technical Support Division (Porto de Pesca de Portimão), the Patacão Service Desk (Faro), or the Alcoutim Nucleus.
According to CCDR Algarve, this survey will allow “assessing the impacts and substantiating the proposal of support measures appropriate to the sector.”
The bad weather caused by the passage of Storm Claudia over mainland Portugal has caused 4,017 incidents since last Wednesday, more than half of them floods, mainly affecting the Setúbal, Porto, and Algarve regions, according to a report released on Sunday by the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
