Regarding the month of October, the association indicated that "32,213 motor vehicles were produced in Portugal, representing a decrease of 7.6 percent compared to the same month in 2024."
Passenger car production increased by 6.8 percent in the first ten months of the year, to 229,279 vehicles, with passenger cars growing by 0.7 percent to 57,795 vehicles.
Conversely, truck production fell by 1.3 percent to 2,498 vehicles in the period between January and October.
"The statistical information relating to the period from January to October of 2025 confirms the importance of exports for the automotive sector, since 97.8 percent of vehicles manufactured in Portugal are destined for the foreign market, which contributes positively to the Portuguese trade balance," highlighted ACAP.
Main markets
According to the association, "Europe remains the leading market for exports of vehicles manufactured in Portugal," with 87.2 percent, highlighted by Germany (20.1%), Italy and Turkey (11.1%), Spain (10.0%), and France (9.8%).
In terms of major regions, "the African market, led by Morocco (12.9%), maintains second place in exports of automobiles manufactured in Portugal with 4.3 percent of exports," with the American continent in third place with 3.2 percent.
ACAP also released data relating to the assembly of heavy vehicles, indicating that, in cumulative terms, in the first ten months of 2025, this segment "showed a decrease of 20.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, representing 207 vehicles assembled in 2025."
