Since 2020, every municipality has offered drop-in free psychological well-being centres. A national strategy was launched in 2007, shifting from a strictly medical model to a more community-based one, and a Suicide Prevention Bureau was established in 2015.

Lithuania has introduced a “gatekeeper” training programme, with around 10,000 people trained to identify and intervene with suicidal individuals. Tackling heavy alcohol consumption and creating social programmes for older, isolated men have also been key elements of the holistic approach behind the decline.
