In a statement, the SSI says that between November 26 and 29, the "Portugal Always Safe" operation, which brings together various police forces and state entities, inspected 4,978 people, more than 1,550 vehicles, nine vessels and 195 establishments.
As part of the operations carried out, 25 people were arrested, more than half for traffic offenses (mostly for driving under the influence of alcohol), and 24 crimes were recorded, more than half for traffic offenses.
The authorities involved in the operations also recorded 528 infractions, 64% of which were road traffic offenses, including 20% related to alcohol.
Forty-two operations were carried out on the mainland and autonomous regions, involving the GNR (National Republican Guard), PSP (Public Security Police), Polícia Judiciária (Judicial Police), ASAE (Food and Economic Security Authority), AT (Tax and Customs Authority), and ACT (Authority for Working Conditions), totaling 875 personnel, supported by 226 vehicles and 11 canine units (teams consisting of a police officer and a dog).
The “Portugal Sempre Seguro” (Portugal Always Safe) operation, carried out for the second time this year, began at the end of October with the aim of strengthening public safety, preventing illegal activities, and deterring risky behaviour, with particular attention to road traffic enforcement and establishments, especially nightlife and restaurant venues.
Last year, Operation "Portugal Always Safe," whose final results were not released, was criticized by left-wing parties for having a targeted approach to detect undocumented immigrants.

operation inspected 2,228 foreigners in three days, of whom 30 were in the country illegally !!!!! wasting time and resources.
