This astronomical phenomenon, which marks the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, can be observed with the naked eye shortly after sunset.

This supermoon is known as a Cold Moon, a name given because it represents the end of autumn and the beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, pointing to a time when temperatures drop a little more.

In the case of this Thursday's supermoon, the Science Alert website says that the Moon will be at a distance of 357,219km from Earth, which will cause (for observers) an apparent increase in size of about 8% compared to a normal Full Moon. This supermoon will also be about 16% brighter than normal Full Moon phases.
