Following the success of the recent openings in Lisbon and Madeira, Hyatt intends to invest in important business centres, highly sought-after tourist destinations, and growing new cultural hubs, according to a report by idealista, without revealing details of the strategic plan in terms of value.
Among the aspects justifying their interest in Portugal is the increase in foreign investment, given the evolution of tourism and the residential investment market in the country. In this sense, the hotel chain seeks to meet the growing demand for high-quality accommodations and superior guest experiences, something that is included in its upcoming hotels in the Portuguese capital.
Andaz Lisbon (Lisbon)
This hotel marks the debut of the Andaz brand in Lisbon and is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2026, in the Baixa Pombalina district. In addition to the 170 rooms and suites, which combine contemporary and local art in every detail, future guests will also be able to enjoy typical Portuguese food at the Luzzi restaurant, as well as the Andaz Lounge, with dishes inspired by street food, handcrafted cocktails and Portuguese beers. The hotel will also feature a state-of-the-art gym and tranquil spaces designed for rest and relaxation.
The Standard (Lisbon)
The historic Santa Clara Palace in Alfama will be converted into a 197-room hotel with panoramic views, a terrace, a spa, and gardens. The idea, developed by Verena Haller and Jaime Hayon, shows how life and art blend in a poetic, human, and unpredictable way.
“With a growing focus on iconic lifestyle brands in Lisbon, such as Andaz and The Standard, our ‘Lifestyle Portfolio’ sets the standard in immersive hospitality, offering bold design, vibrant gastronomy, and a unique cultural program. As Portugal continues to consolidate itself as a key market in the hospitality and residential investment sectors, we are excited to expand our portfolio and bring our range of brands to more relevant destinations for our guests, members, and owners,” says Helena Burstedt, Regional Vice President of Development for the Iberian Peninsula at Hyatt, in a statement.
The spokesperson adds that “Portugal continues to be a priority for the growth of Hyatt brands in Southern Europe” and that, thanks to its “rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes and modern infrastructure, the country is increasingly attractive to both leisure and business travellers.”
Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve
Hyatt's arrival in the Algarve brings with it more than 250 rooms and suites to Vilamoura, near its famous marina. This hotel will offer diverse gastronomic options, as well as a central bar and spacious outdoor areas designed for relaxation and socializing.
Hyatt Regency Cape Verde Sal
The international hotel chain debuts in Cape Verde with the Regency brand on Sal Island. Designed for tourists and business travellers, this hotel aims to offer spaces that promote relaxation and connection with the natural beauty of this island.
