Puppies over one year old are not eligible without a contribution from the owner. This programme is designed specifically for low-income families across the Sotavento/East Algarve, with the clear goal of reducing the number of unwanted litters, abandoned puppies and shelter overcrowding.
Working Hand-in-Hand With Partner Shelters
StreetLife is extending this support directly to local Partner Shelters. Shelters may now offer free sterilisation for any puppy they successfully rehome, simply by submitting a quick application form at the time of adoption. This gives adopters reassurance, eliminates future costs, and prevents accidental litters later on.
StreetEyes: Our Front-Line Animal Guardians
If you know of puppy owners in your local community who may need help, or if you see puppies at risk of remaining unsterilised, our StreetEyes team can initiate the application and get them into the programme.
Why This Programme Matters
Every year, East Algarve shelters are overwhelmed by unplanned litters, abandoned puppies and strays. Many puppies are born simply because families cannot afford sterilisation or do not know where to get support.
Programme Key Points:
- Sterilisation is free if the puppy is registered before age one
- StreetLife pays the full cost
- Puppies over one year old are not eligible
We Need Your Help to Spread the Word
