Data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reveals that 24,942 new homes were sold between January and September 2025. This is the highest number recorded since 2010, the last year before the Troika intervention, from which the number of transactions plummeted in the country, according to Jornal de Negócios.
The sale of nearly 25,000 new homes generated approximately €7.9 billion between January and September of this year, 44.5% more than 15 years ago. The average price per new home sold increased by 88.8% during this period, rising from €168,200 in 2010 to €317,579 this year, according to the same newspaper.
In Greater Lisbon, the average cost of a new home more than doubled (+139.7%) in those 15 years, rising from €234,984 to €563,300. And in the Porto metropolitan area, the average price rose by 80.2% to €296,260, the same source calculated based on INE (National Institute of Statistics) data.
