The same association hopes that the national Competition Authority will follow the example of its Italian counterpart in this matter.
In a press release, ANAV believes that the Italian decision may have repercussions in the Portuguese market, starting by showing an effective stance taken by the national authorities regarding the complaint filed by ANAV in January 2025.
Miguel Quintas, quoted by Publituris, president of ANAV, highlights the importance of this decision, stating that "this is a pioneering and historic legal precedent with regard to the defense of European consumers," emphasizing that "Ryanair provides an invaluable service in a large part of our markets, but it is also a company that has long carried out a series of abusive practices and, unfortunately, seems to consider itself above the law," concluding that this decision "demonstrated that nothing and no one is above the law."

Pretty useless article as it doesn't say how it is abusing it's position. Those that moan about Ryanairs pricing structure do have the option to fly with other companies. Some have similar pricing structures i.e. you pay only for what you need or you pay extra and fly with a national carrier.
