According to Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, the total investment will be €16.8 million. At the same time, he lamented the deaths of people who did not receive timely assistance.

“I want to begin by expressing, on behalf of the Government, our condolences to the families of the people who died in the last few hours and who did not have the fastest response from the emergency system, despite the reinforcement made in the Setúbal and Lisbon regions, which involves all available ambulances,” said Luís Montenegro, at the opening of the fortnightly debate in the Assembly of the Republic.

Then, the Prime Minister announced that the PSD/CDS-PP Government approved on Wednesday “the acquisition of 275 new vehicles for INEM in an investment amounting to €16.8 million,” adding: “These are 63 ambulances, 34 VMERs and 78 other vehicles, the largest investment of its kind in the last decade.”
