DECO PROteste conducted an analysis to calculate the price indices of nine online supermarkets.
According to an article published in Executive Digest, the survey was based on daily price collection for a basket of more than 200 products, accounting for the expenses of Portuguese families.
The study conducted last year concluded that the cheapest supermarket was Continente, followed by Pingo Doce and Froiz, which tied for second, and Auchan, which ranked third alongside 360Hyper.
On the other hand, El Corte Inglés was considered the most expensive online supermarket, with prices 10% higher than Continente’s.
Minipreço and Intermarché occupied an intermediate position, with prices 4% and 3% higher than those of the cheapest supermarket, respectively.
DECO PROteste offers a price simulator that consumers can use to make calculations for their municipality. As noted by Executive Digest, the calculations exclude delivery costs, card discounts, and other promotions, and are based solely on consumer expenses and their proportionality to the price of the essential basket.
