This year’s appeal exceeded all expectations. Thanks to an extraordinary outpouring of generosity and community spirit from residents of all nationalities in São Brás and the surrounding areas, a remarkable 400 Christmas presents were collected. These gifts were handed over to the Salvation Army for distribution to children and families most in need throughout the region.

Helping Hands Algarve would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who contributed—whether by donating presents, offering financial support to purchase suitable gifts, or helping behind the scenes. The scale of this response demonstrates the strength, compassion, and solidarity of the local community.
Founded to provide practical assistance and support to vulnerable individuals and families in the Algarve, Helping Hands Algarve works year-round to alleviate hardship through food support, emergency aid, and community initiatives. Its Christmas gift project has become one of its most cherished annual activities, bringing joy and dignity to children who might otherwise go without during the festive season.
This year’s achievement sets a new benchmark for 2026, and the organisers hope it will inspire even greater participation in the years to come.
