According to the same news outlet, the measure aims to shorten the processing time for residence permits, which is one of the main reasons citizens complain about AIMA.
However, the agency says that some cards sent by CTT are returned to AIMA due to delivery difficulties.
Thus, according to DN Brasil, the "proof of approval" is like an online declaration for those already aware of the approval of their application for renewal or assignment of residence.
AIMA, quoted by DN Brasil, says that the declaration allows "greater security for those who already have their application approved and are awaiting receipt of their residence permit." The agency also warns that "the statement now available does not replace the residence permit in cases where it is legally required."
To obtain the statement, citizens must visit the website services.aima.gov.pt and request it, as it cannot be issued in person.

The link in the article does not work. The situation still leaves one with hands tied as it states that..."Your application has been approved. Please await delivery of your card. BUT
If necessary, you may be contacted to resolve any issues related to the issuance of your residence card. If so, YOU MUST APPEAR IN PERSON, otherwise your card will not be issued and your application will not be completed.
You will receive your residence card at the address you provided.
If you are not at home when your card is delivered, you can collect it in the following days at the nearest post office.
If you are unable to collect your card from the post office, you will be contacted by email with instructions on where and how you can collect it. SO it remains very risky to leave the country in case you are required to attend a further meeting or in case they do not allow a 3rd party to collect the card from in your absence. Very frustrating indeed!

I completed our residence renewal in
Early May 2025 , we hold a golden based on real estate investment since 2017 we. Submitted documents and finger prints in AIMA Funchal Madeira . Since no news . Unable to enter Europe since to take care of our properties
