The Kristin depression arrives in Portugal early on 28 January, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, rough seas, and snowfall, according to an alert from the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority.

Red weather warnings were issued in Porto, Aveiro and Coimbra, between 3 am and 6 am, with forecasts of wind gusts up to 140 kilometres per hour. Faro, Porto, Setúbal, Lisbon, Beja, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra, Braga, and Viana do Castelo will also be under a red weather warning due to rough seas between 3 am and 9 pm on 28 January.
