According to the decree published today in the Official Gazette, the value of family benefits is increased by 2.2 percent, equivalent to "the average variation of the last 12 months of the consumer price index (CPI), excluding housing, with reference to the month of December 2025".
The update covers not only the family allowance for children and young people, but also the prenatal family allowance and the funeral allowance, and updates the values of the disability bonus, the allowance for assistance from a third person, and the increases based on single-parent situations and the values for larger families.
In the case of family allowance, the amount paid to families in the lowest income bracket increases by €4.11, rising from €186.87 to €190.98 per month for children aged three or younger.
For children over three years old, the amount paid to families in the lowest income bracket increases by €1.62, rising from €73.51 per month to €75.13.
The prenatal family allowance for the lowest-income bracket increases by €4.11, from €186.87 to €190.98 per month.
“The amount of the funeral allowance (…) is €268.57 and corresponds to 50% of the social support index (IAS),” reads the decree.
Regarding disability and dependency benefits, the amount of the disability supplement increases to €74.19 for children and young people up to 14 years old, to €108.06 for young people over 14 years old, and to €144.63 for young people between 18 and 24 years old.
The allowance for assistance from a third person increases by €2.78 to €128.24 per month.
These updates take effect on 6 January but are retroactive to January 2026.
