According to Meteo Alentejo, the rainfall recorded in January and during the first five days of February has already exceeded the total accumulated during previous winter periods.

Portalegre

Following a landslide that occurred overnight between February 4 and 5, several roads in the city centre are either closed or subject to restrictions. The affected areas include Rossio, Avenida de Santo António, Avenida Frei Amador Arrais, and Avenida das Forças Armadas.

Emergency teams are on site assessing the situation and responding to incidents. Traffic conditions may change as the situation develops.

Due to safety concerns and in accordance with Civil Protection guidance, students from the Bonfim School Group are excused from classes on Thursday, 5 February, as safe conditions for pedestrian and vehicular circulation cannot be guaranteed.

Baixo Alentejo

In response to adverse weather forecasts, the municipal councils of Aljustrel, Alvito, Cuba, Ferreira do Alentejo, Serpa, and Vidigueira have decided to close schools on Thursday, 5 February.

Additionally, students from schools in Moura and Amareleja who need to travel by road to attend schools in the affected municipalities are also excused from classes on the same day.
