According to the INE, in 2025, the labour underutilisation rate also reached a 14-year low of 10.2 percent , 0.8 percentage points lower than the previous year.

The youth unemployment rate (16 to 24 years old) was 19.5 percent , down 2.1 percentage points from the previous year, while the proportion of long-term unemployed was estimated at 36.8 percent , down 0.1 percentage points from 2024.

In 2025, the average annual employed population was 5,275,300, an increase of 3.2 percent (163,000) from the previous year.

The unemployed population, estimated at 337,100, decreased by 4.0 percent (14,000) relative to 2024.
