Mário Silvestre said that 42,135 personnel are involved in responding to the calamity situation, and 16,664 resources are on the ground.

The national commander of civil protection was speaking at a press conference at the headquarters of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), in Carnaxide, Oeiras, in the district of Lisbon.

According to Mário Silvestre, last night “was calm”, reflecting “a scenario of stability”.

“We have recorded 54 incidents tonight, which, once again, refers to the apparent stability we had,” he stressed.
