The executive, through the MAR2030 program, is making this amount available to fishing vessel owners. To access the support, the downtime period must be equal to or greater than 30 days, counted consecutively or intermittently, in each calendar year from 15 November 2025 to 20 February 2026.

Vessels must register losses equal to or greater than 30% of the sales volume at national fish markets, between November 2025 and January 2026, compared to the same months of the previous year.

“This is well-deserved support for fishing professionals who were prevented from carrying out their activity due to the adverse weather conditions that devastated the country,” says the Minister of Agriculture and Sea, José Manuel Fernandes, in a statement.

The formula for calculating the support to be granted to the shipowner is similar to that used during the Covid-19 pandemic, based on 30 days of stoppage and 2025 sales volume.
