For their next concerts on 24th and 26th of February the Amigos de Música are delighted to welcome a very talented young Spanish pianist and composer from Elche in Spain, SALVADOR SANCHEZ, who after first studies in Spain was trained at St. Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh and graduated from the Royal College of Music in London.
Salvador is the winner of numerous awards including Second Prize at the XXVII National Piano Competition in Toledo and the Isobel Dunlop Composition Prize for his string quartet Black Rhapsody, and he received top honours at the Vigo International Piano Competition, where he was awarded Best Spanish Pianist. He will play works by some famous Spanish composers:
On Tuesday February 24th Salvador will play the ‘Goyescas’, a suite for piano composed by Enrique Granados in 1911, inspired by the paintings and universe of Francisco de Goya. On Thursday February 26th he will play “Iberia”, Books I and III, composed by Isaac Albéniz, one of the most ambitious and influential piano cycles of the 20th century, inspired by landscapes and popular music traditions of Spain, and “Música callada”, Book I by Federico Mompou.
Both concerts will take place in the Auditorium of OS AGOSTOS near Santa Bárbara de Nexe. Doors will open at 6.00pm and the concert will begin at 7.00pm.! (www.OsAgostos.com). SALVADOR SANCHEZ, pianist and composer
Born in Elche in 2000, Salvador SANCHEZ was trained at St. Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh and graduated from the Royal College of Music in London. After his first studies in Spain, he has distinguished himself with several notable awards that mark his rapid artistic ascent.
He earned Second Prize at the XXVII National Piano Competition in Toledo, won the Isobel Dunlop Composition Prize for his string quartet Black Rhapsody, and received St. Mary’s Music School’s most prestigious distinction, the Director’s Recital Prize. His international recognition continued with top honours at the Vigo International Piano Competition, where he was awarded Best Spanish Pianist, and with the Edinburgh City Competition First Prize for his performance of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major.
