Satire is a big part of the Loulé Carnival, and every year it makes fun of famous people, politics, and current events. One person who almost always appears is Cristiano Ronaldo. He has become a regular figure at the carnival because he is such an important and well-known person in Portugal.
This year was no different. Ronaldo appeared together with Georgina Rodríguez, and the float focused on their engagement from August 2025. After almost 10 years together, he proposed with a 37-carat ring from a luxurious jewellery house in Bilbao. The ring looked even bigger than it already is, making it the main focus.
There was also another funny detail: Ronaldo was shown carrying Portugal’s national team coach, Roberto Martínez, on his back. This was a clear joke about how important Ronaldo is to the team, almost suggesting that he carries the coach and the whole team with him.
Ronaldo also appeared last year. He was pictured on a golden float celebrating his luxurious life in Saudi Arabia after renewing his multi-million-dollar contract with Al-Nassr FC. The gold decorations and flashy style were clearly making fun of the money and luxury in his career.
In 2018, he also appeared in a float connected to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Again, the carnival used humour to show his importance to the Portuguese national team.
Overall, Ronaldo has become a symbol at the Loulé Carnival. The floats don’t just celebrate him — they also gently mock his fame, money, and influence. Through satire, the carnival shows how big his role is in Portuguese culture.
