In the draw on 23 February, a Portuguese bettor managed to win a prize of €2,000 per month for five years.
Jogos Santa Casa reveals that no one matched all the winning numbers, and the top prize was not awarded. The second prize, in turn, was given to only one bettor, who registered their bet in Portugal.
Taxes applied to the prize
Under Portuguese law, prizes exceeding €5,000 are subject to a 20% tax. The tax is applied to the amount paid.
Jogos Santa Casa also explains that when taxation is due, the tax is withheld at source, without the winner needing to undertake any additional procedures.

Can some one tell me why the Portuguese are still being charged €2.50 for a Euromillions raffle ticket when the Milhão draw, the reason the extra 50c was added, is now monthly not weekly?
