The new store is located in Quinta do Lambert, at rua Agostinho Neto nº16, in Lisbon, and, according to a company statement, is "an important milestone in the brand's expansion in Portugal."

According to the company, the new supermarket "created 80 stable, high-quality jobs with permanent contracts from day one, and involved a total investment of over 9 million euros, with €1.2 million allocated to improvements in its surrounding public area, covering a total intervention area of ​​4,300 m2."

The inauguration

Present at the inauguration of the new supermarket were Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon; Ricardo Mexia, President of the Lumiar Parish Council; and Juan Roig, President of Mercadona.

Quoted in the press release, Juan Roig states that “it is with great pride that we welcome your visit to our 70th store in the country, which represents another step in an expansion project that has been ongoing for seven years and employs 7,500 workers in Portugal. At Mercadona, we have to be more Portuguese, and events like today's [24 February] are another step in that direction.”

The new supermarket “has a sales area of ​​1,900 m2, with the Butcher, Fishmonger, Delicatessen, Pastry and Bakery, Fruits and Vegetables, Perfumery, Home Care and Pets, Wine Cellar and Ready-to-Eat sections with self-service and various options of prepared dishes to take away or eat in the store, in an exclusive area for this purpose.”

114 parking spaces are available, with two designated for charging electric vehicles.
