“Receiving two awards again [Outstanding A Greener Festival and the Water & Sanitation Award] is remarkable. Without any support from brands, public funding, and competing with countries that are much more advanced in terms of cultural and economic policies, it reinforces our leading position in the sustainable festival sector,” said Artur Mendes, from the Boom Festival organisation, in a statement sent today to the Lusa news agency.
The 15th edition of this biennial festival, held in July 2025, received the ‘Water and Sanitation Award’, which recognises the event's excellence in water resource management and sanitation.
Greener Future (AGF), an independent international organisation from the United Kingdom that develops and manages one of the most recognised global sustainability award and certification systems for festivals, also awarded the ‘Greener Festival 2025 – OUTSTANDING’.
This award is given only to events that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to reducing their ecological footprint and environmental regeneration, with ‘Outstanding’ being the highest rating.
“It is a recognition of the work of our team and our vision of making festivals that work on environmental regeneration and human transformation,” highlighted Artur Mendes.
Over its 15 editions, the Boom Festival has won 16 awards.
