The Castelo Branco City Council signed a collaboration protocol with the Iberian Association of Inland Tourism (AITI) that defines a set of actions to be implemented as the Official Guest Destination of the II World Congress of Inland Tourism.
In a note sent to the Lusa news agency, the Castelo Branco City Council explained that the protocol signed with AITI establishes the terms of collaboration between the two entities, "in order to promote, value and publicise the Castelo Branco territory, highlighting its regional products, endogenous resources and differentiating experiences".
The II World Congress of Inland Tourism will take place in Guarda on 18 and 19 November.
This event aims to promote the sharing of best practices, strengthen cooperation between countries, and contribute to the development of tourism models adapted to the specificities of inland territories.
“The partnership's main objective is to boost the local economy, supporting the businesses of accommodation and catering companies, as well as reinforcing the tourist appeal of the municipality of Castelo Branco, attracting new visitors and investors,” the statement reads.
The document, formalised by the mayors of Castelo Branco, Leopoldo Martins Rodrigues, and of AITI, Miguel Ângelo Martins, outlines several institutional and promotional actions for the municipality of Castelo Branco.
Among the former, the highlights include the integration of the municipality of Castelo Branco into the congress's official communication, institutional interventions by the mayor or a representative, and participation in preparatory institutional events organised by AITI.
Regarding promotional actions, the focus is on an active presence to promote the territory of Castelo Branco, the screening of a promotional video, tastings of regional products, and the placement of promotional material about the territory in the bags of congress participants.
Organised by AITI, the 2nd World Congress on Inland Tourism follows the first edition, held in the Spanish city of Cáceres, and will bring together public decision-makers, regional entities, academics, international organisations, and economic agents.
The event also aims to consolidate itself as a leading Iberian and international forum for strategic debate on the challenges and opportunities of tourism in inland territories.
