The new automated operational centre was opened in Rio de Mouro, in the municipality of Sintra. A total investment of two million euros was made, creating 350 jobs.
In a statement, CTT says it has 60 automated sorting terminals, capable of processing 6,000 items per hour, or 126,000 items per day. From the same centre, 300,000 distribution routes can be made daily, serving 900,000 people. With a total area of 5,000 m2, CTT is already considering a possible expansion if justified.
In a statement, João Bento, CEO of CTT, explains that “the opening of this new Operational Centre represents a strategic step to better serve the Greater Lisbon area, substantially reinforcing our parcel processing capacity through a fully automated sorter in which, interestingly, we are introducing for the first time in our Iberian network, a package individualization equipment (singulator) specifically designed for handling large volumes of B2C parcels. This investment allows us to respond more efficiently and with higher quality to the needs of our customers, clearly demonstrating our continuous commitment to the modernisation and innovation of our operations.”

Maybe now I'll start getting my mail on time...oh wait CTT doesn't care about that at all!
