The measure, which benefited 52 children in the municipality in 2025, provides financial support of €150 for each new birth, adoption (up to the age of 12) or foster care. This amount, increased in 2023 from the initial €100 in 2016, is given to families in the form of three vouchers, each worth €50, which must be used in shops in the municipality to purchase essential goods.

The program stands out for its scope and direct impact on local commerce; through this programme, families can purchase health, hygiene, childcare, clothing, and children's furniture items, directly supporting businesses in the town. Since last year, foster families have benefited too, with their vital contribution recognised.

But the support doesn’t stop there. Every family in São Brás de Alportel also has access to education and health vouchers, from covering school supplies to eye screenings, offering practical help as children grow.

Those who are planning to welcome a new family member in 2026 may register their child at Town Hall before the end of the year to receive this support.

The local authority states that it will soon reinforce the social support strategy with a new response that the local Parish Council is preparing.

With these measures, São Brás de Alportel puts families and the local economy first. Every €150 voucher stays within the town, benefiting both families and local shops.
