Jenny Clarke APAA’s President, had managed to arrange the all-important team to be on the spot at the same time, at Happy Dogs. Gail, her assistant, APAA’s SNiP’ping Vet, Jenny and ‘Amigo’. Caught, tranquilised and operated on. “He was totally oblivious!” Finally, having been safely transported to Cadela Carlota, where Ruth and her team of volunteers and helpers can get to grips with Amigo’s rehabilitation.

It will take time to spend with Amigo and hopefully build his confidence and complete his restoration process. Also, Gail, dog behaviourist and trainer will be giving her special talents to re-building Amigo’s trust and possibly his eventual re-homing. Obviously working as a team, when needed, is important. The Association for Protection of Animals Algarve’s chief cause, is raising money for SNiP (Spaying & Neutering Programme) and helping other associations and shelters with their rising costs with ever-increasing Feral Cat-Colonies, which need money to control.

Abandoned dogs, also need help, vet care and it none of it is cheap. “We know it is difficult for people to find that extra bit of money, but every bit helps.” As does APAA’s Pop-Up’ Shops raising money for worthwhile causes. Mainly our four-pawed friendly friends feline, canine or otherwise! Please help us to help them. Volunteers are always made welcome and needed at all levels by many shelters. Time and money go hand-in-hand, every little helps. Jenny beams. “Our recent pop-up at the Jolly Bar raised over 400€ and Jackie’s lunch just under 200€!”
