Currently, hundreds of passengers are stranded, following the passage of Storm Therese through the archipelago.

According to the Vinci platform, at 11:27 am, SATA Açores had cancelled the Ponta Delgada-Flores and Ponta Delgada-Pico flights, while Azores Airlines had cancelled flights to Madeira and Faro.

At Lajes Civil Airport, on Terceira Island, the SATA Air Açores flight to Ponta Delgada was cancelled.

The Azores archipelago is being hit by depression Therese, with an associated frontal system, which is expected to cause a significant increase in wind intensity, with gusts that could reach 95 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the Western group (Flores and Corvo) and 110 km/h in the Central and Eastern groups, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The IPMA also predicts that sea agitation will increase, with waves reaching up to eight metres in significant height throughout the archipelago.
