“Guarda, Uma Porta Aberta” is a public artwork installed in a roundabout in Guarda. It was created by the local sculptor Dora Tracan. It shows how Guarda is an open door to everyone who wants to come and live in that city.

This sculpture is made of two main parts: a hand and a door. The artist used bronze to build the hand, giving it a warm, strong look. For the door, she chose granite, a stone often associated with the region.

It was inaugurated on 2 August 2016, and on the same day, another artwork called “Cristal da Guarda”. This roundabout piece is a reminder that Guarda wants to be seen as a welcoming place, ready to receive new people and stories.

This sculpture shows how even a simple roundabout can become a symbol of identity and hospitality. Have you passed by this art piece? What other artworks in Guarda have you visited?
