"Due to works by ADIF, from 6 April 2026 to 7 April 2027, rail services for Celta trains 420, 421, 422, and 423 will be restricted. A road transfer will be required," states a notice on the CP - Comboios de Portugal website. All Celta services (two trains daily in each direction) are affected.

The road transfer will run between Vigo-Guixar and Valença stations, with no intermediate stops.

The current train timetables remain in place, but arrival times may vary depending on traffic. The Portuguese operator notes that the replacement bus cannot carry wheelchairs, and bicycles or scooters are only allowed if packed within 140×90×40 cm.

Pets are not allowed on the replacement buses, the notice adds.

Last year, buses replaced the Celta train between Valença and Vigo on weekends in September and the first weekend of October due to construction in the Galician city.

From August to December, a mandatory train change at Viana do Castelo was introduced as a temporary measure to keep the service running, CP explained at the time.

The Celta train, jointly operated by CP and Renfe, started daily service in July 2013, linking Vigo and Porto with stops at Valença, Viana do Castelo, Barcelos, and Nine.

The service enabled the 175-kilometre journey between the cities to take around 2.5 hours, whereas previously it took over 3 hours.
