Opened on 19 December 2007 alongside the Terreiro do Paço station, this stop sits on Avenida Infante D. Henrique and provides a direct connection to the Santa Apolónia railway terminal, which serves the North and Azambuja Lines.
Its name derives from the adjacent railway station, itself partly built on the former site of the Convent of Santa Apolónia.
The station’s architectural design was created by Leopoldo de Almeida Rosa.
