According to the information released, the DREM states that sales of new homes stood at €313.8 million, down 30.9%, whilst sales of existing homes amounted to €665.1 million, up 14.5%.
In total, 3,303 properties were sold in Madeira last year, a 13.5% decrease from 2024.
Of the 3,303 homes, 2,527 were existing properties, and 776 were new, the Regional Statistics Directorate added.
Across Portugal, 169,800 homes were sold last year, an increase of 8.6% compared to the previous year.
The majority of homes sold in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (90%) were purchased by citizens with tax residence in Portugal, whilst 5.7% of buyers had tax residence in the European Union and 4.3% in other parts of the world.
