The Aveiro District Council celebrates the municipality’s history and windmill heritage by organising workshops and windmill visits.
The Bread Market will be open on 11 April from 6 pm to midnight and on 12 April from 10 am to midnight, featuring a variety of traditional regional breads, musical entertainment, and themed workshops.
Organisers will open the Festival on 7 April by launching an exhibition dedicated to water mills at the Municipal Market.
The exhibition highlights local stories and traditions that connect to traditional milling mills.
Festival organisers invite visitors to join tastings and bread-making sessions during the second weekend.
Organisers offer free activities but require registration on the municipality’s website due to limited spaces.
The programme features the launch of Isaura Lalanda’s watercolour postcard collection.
The Mills Festival is supported by Turismo de Portugal. It is organised as part of the “Rota dos Moinhos de Portugal – Portuguese Mills”
project, which brings together the municipalities of Albergaria-a-Velha, Sever do Vouga, Águeda, Nelas and Vagos.
