The Championships, which take place over 8 days in September in Llandrindod Wells in Wales, are also a Series Ranking Event for the World Bowls Championships 2027.

The team was selected following rigorous selection events and comprises 5 ladies and 5 men, with 2 of the men and 3 of the ladies from Algarve-based clubs. The remainder of the team are Portuguese citizens who live and play outside Portugal.

The Algarve-based bowlers are Joaquim Cruz and Julie Moulds from Alvor Bowls Club, and Geoff Worrall, Christine Worrall and Mary Mullane from Pedras Bowls Club. We also have several reserves on standby!

As this is a new initiative, there is no central funding available to cover the players' costs. A number of fundraising events will be taking place, and anyone who may be interested in sponsorship of the team should contact the Bowls Portugal secretary, Dave Wood, at davewood@wspcl.co.uk
