Starbucks has strengthened its presence in the north of the country with the opening of a new store at NorteShopping in Porto, bringing the number of outlets in the city to nine and reaching a total of 33 across the country.

Covering an area of 62m², the new outlet has been designed with a contemporary concept, ideal for both leisure and those seeking a remote workspace, blending seamlessly into the daily life of one of the country’s most iconic shopping centres.

The opening was marked by the “Opening with a Cause” initiative, through which Alsea (the brand’s manager in Portugal) will donate all proceeds generated on this first day to Casa do Caminho. This Porto-based charity is dedicated to caring for vulnerable children, and the funds raised will be used to bolster the shelter’s resources and ensure the holistic development of children at risk.

According to Mónica Ferreira, Vice-President of the organisation, this support is essential to continuing our mission of caring for and protecting the young people in our care. "We are deeply grateful to the Alsea Group and the Starbucks brand for this support. Thanks to their collaboration through the ‘Aberturas com Causa’ initiative, we can provide the shelter with the resources needed to continue our mission: to welcome and care for children at risk and promote their holistic development,” says Mónica Ferreira, Vice-President of Casa do Caminho.

For the first customers, the brand has prepared exclusive offers: the first 100 to arrive received an exclusive tote bag and a reusable cup, underscoring Starbucks’ commitment to sustainability.

In addition, users of the Starbucks Rewards app will be able to benefit from an offer of 200 extra stars per day over the next two weeks, making it easier to access free drinks and the latest news first-hand.

With this new outlet, Starbucks has surpassed 300 jobs in Portugal.

António Romero, Managing Director of Starbucks Iberia, highlighted the brand’s enthusiasm for opening at NorteShopping, reinforcing its expansion strategy in highly convenient locations.

This opening not only enhances the shopping centre’s food and drink offering with the brand’s iconic coffee and pastries, but also reaffirms the multinational’s role in supporting the local communities in which it operates.
