And what a finish it was. 2 teams, Pedras Panthers, based in Cabanas de Tavira and Floresta Foresters, based near Praia de Luz, had been neck and neck at the top of the league throughout the season. After 17 games, the Panthers were leading by 1 point. Foresters won their last game away at Alvor, earning 10 points.

The Panthers had to delay their game until Monday due to a Touring team game on the Pedras green, so they had to play knowing they needed 10 points to win the league, which was no mean feat against a strong Valverde Vipers team. Tensions were running high on the day, and it was a very pressurised situation.

Pedras Panthers, led by Captain Russ Malin, won 4 of the 6 games for 8 points and secured the additional 2 points by winning the overall shots score, 58 to 50, so it was a very close affair.

The Panthers have been crowned Champions of the Winter League for the first time in the 17-year history of Pedras Bowling Club.
