This initiative is part of this year's State Budget. It benefits individuals and businesses based in the Alentejo region near these routes.
The exemption on the A2 covers the section between the A2/A6/A13 junction and Almodôvar. On the A6, it applies from the junction to the Caia border crossing in Elvas. According to the decree published in the Official Gazette, this measure aims to reduce local costs and promote regional development.
To take part, you need an electronic device linked to your car’s license plate, like a Via Verde device.
This device enables automatic detection of the exemption. It streamlines the process and reduces fraud. To qualify, use only the electronic toll lanes at the specified toll plazas.
The exemption is not automatic. You must request your toll provider to link your on-board device to the exemption scheme.
To apply, submit your vehicle registration certificate or registration document. For leased vehicles, also provide a document from the lessor confirming the lessee’s name and address. Once approved, the exemption is valid for one year from the application date.
To maintain the benefit, renew your eligibility annually by submitting the required documents at least 30 days before your eligibility expires.
If you fail to update your information on time, you will be removed from the exemption. Standard toll charges will then apply.
