There was a huge Easter Folar event in Quarteira, held on Rua Vasco da Gama.
On Easter Saturday, several local bakeries made a massive folar — about 135 metres long and weighing over 500 kilos. It took nearly two days to prepare and involved several local bakeries working together. The amount of ingredients was impressive, hundreds of kilos of flour and sugar, lots of eggs, plus traditional flavours like cinnamon, anise, honey, and orange.
The best part was that it was free. Once it was ready, they cut it up and shared it with everyone who showed up.
If you went, it was worth arriving a bit early, since it drew a big crowd and disappeared quickly.
