Right over Praia da Conceição watches the Palácio Albatroz—originally known as the Casa de D. António de Lancastre—is a stunning villa right by the shore. Built in the early 20th century, it was the private residence of Queen D. Amélia’s personal physician. The land itself was a present from the Duchess of Palmela, a gesture that perfectly illustrates the grandeur of the building.

While its neighbors favored chalets, this palace embraced an eclectic, Italianate flair. It became famous as the "House of the Yellow Roof" because of its vibrant tiles that are in such contrast t the sky and ocean. Architectural details like the beautiful decor of the balconies, or etched swan above the entrance make it stand out further. Nowadays, it is part of the Albatroz Hotel.
