“The Ismaili Imamat, the Aga Khan Development Network and the Aga Khan Foundation – institutions led by His Highness the Aga Khan – announced last February a donation of €1.5 million to support the reconstruction and revitalisation of the areas of the country most affected by the recent storms,” stated a press release sent to the Lusa news agency.
The protocol was signed between the Mission Structure and a group of institutional investors, in the presence of the Prime Minister, presided over by the President of the Republic, on 7 April at 4 pm at the Tomar Power Plant, in the Levada Cultural Complex.
This collaboration agreement aims to establish a “collaborative framework to support the collective effort of reconstruction, recovery and transformation of territories affected by extreme weather events that led to the declaration of a state of emergency”.
This initiative aims to “mobilise resources for community-based projects with a direct impact on the territories, reinforcing a collaborative, transparent and results-oriented approach”.
This aid will be implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation Portugal in close coordination with the Government, the Mission Structure for the Reconstruction of the Central Region and with national and local authorities, “in order to ensure that this support is an effective contribution to the communities that suffered most from the severe weather that affected the country”.
The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is present in more than 30 countries and employs approximately 96,000 people, mostly in developing countries.
With an annual budget of approximately €860 million allocated to non-profit activities, it supports more than 2 million students each year through its educational programs and ensures quality healthcare for approximately 5 million people.
In Portugal, the Ismaili Imamat and the AKDN have strengthened their presence through various investments and initiatives.

I know that there are storm victims who still have not seen any of the LARGE & WELL KNOWN charity organisations for assistance with regard to food or their accommodation. Shame!
