This multidisciplinary production's sixth tour features live music by Surma and real-time digital drawing by Nuno Viegas. It aims to raise awareness about behaviours that can cause fires in rural areas.

Premiered in 2020, “Under the Earth” returns with a new cast and will be back on stage, with 14 performances scheduled over three weeks, seeking “the decentralisation of culture and direct contact with communities,” as Leirena explained in a statement.

Frédéric da Cruz Pires directs "Under the Earth," which Leirena co-produced with AGIF - Agency for Integrated Rural Fire Management as part of the "Portugal Calls - Don't Play with Fire" project.

The narrative uses humour, absurdity, and social criticism to depict a fictional village split into three chapters. Despite danger, irresponsibility and ignorance remain, as Leirena Teatro describes.

The new tour will begin in Castro Daire, with the second performance scheduled for Thursday in Carregal do Sal, both located in the Viseu district.

On 20 April, “Under the Earth” will be presented in Gouveia, in the Guarda district, and on 21 April, it returns to the Viseu district for a performance in Santa Comba Dão.

Leirena then takes the show to Guarda on 22 April, travelling afterwards to Castelo Branco on 23 April, and Ansião, in the Leiria district, on 24 April.

In the Aveiro district, “Under the Earth” will be staged on 27 April in Oliveira do Bairro and on 28 April in Anadia.

The tour extends to Seia, in the Guarda district, on the 30th, and to Castelo de Vide, in the Portalegre district, on 4 May. Also in May, the play will be presented in the Santarém district, in Abrantes on the 5th, and Mação on the 6th, before the tour concludes on the 7th in Coimbra.
