Daniel Nunes, one of those responsible for the programming, revealed that the Tondela Secondary School theatre group, Na Xina Lua, based at ACERT, will premiere the play "Insegura" (Insecure)—about an insurance company for emotions—on 30 April. On 22 May, Trigo Limpo - ACERT theatre celebrates its 50th anniversary with the play "Carrossel" (Carousel), a tribute to theatre companies.
Daniel Nunes will lead a street parade with ACERT and Tondela students on the afternoon of 24 April to commemorate Freedom Day. The procession will feature a stage machine from the theatre company. That night, the 25 April concert "Fran Pérez forever!" features music by Fran Pérez, performed by local, Galician, and Mozambican artists, noted ACERT co-director José Rui Martins.
“Fran Pérez (1968-2016) collaborated very significantly over many years, not only creating stage music for Trigo Limpo shows but also composing the music for the Burning of Judas,” a spectacle that always occurs on the Saturday night of Easter weekend.
José Rui Martins added that “we do not end any edition of the Burning of Judas without ‘Malha Suprema,’ one of the songs he created, which now stands as an emblematic piece and almost an anthem of the spectacle.”
Nuno Coimbra, the person in charge, stated that guest artists from Galicia, Mozambique, and Brazil will join a conversation on 25 April as part of the 30th edition of the Burning of Judas, which coincides with ACERT's 50th anniversary celebrations this year. On that same day, Nuno Coimbra added, the first of five magazines, “50 minus one, the 49 years of ACERT,” will be launched. This project by Marta Silva, a designer from Tondela, began as a master's thesis and is now presented as an “essentially graphic magazine that follows the work” of Trigo Limpo.
This quarter's theme is “Freedom is passing through here,” featuring fado singer Ricardo Ribeiro with “FadOrquestra,” accompanied by the String Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music and Arts of Dão, from Santa Comba Dão.
“I think Ricardo Ribeiro didn't think twice when he accepted this crazy challenge and showed enormous generosity in agreeing to perform songs he didn't choose with an orchestra he doesn't know,” emphasised José Rui Martins.
Still in the field of music, there will be a solidarity concert on the evening of May 16th, featuring the Tondela Philharmonic Band and the Public Security Police (PSP) Symphonic Band, where all proceeds will be transformed into equipment for the Volunteer Firefighters of Tondela and Vale de Besteiros, also in that municipality in the Viseu district.
In a quarter "very much marked by local cultural agents, a consequence of work that ACERT has done over the years and which ends up resulting in this appreciation of the region's territory," the program includes a café-concert by the António Ribeiro Quintet, from the "Santos da casa fazem milagres" project.
The Serra de Montemuro Regional Theatre, based in Castro Daire, Viseu district, presents "Violinos para a periferia" (Violins for the Periphery), a play "about a company accustomed to great classics that moves to the interior of the country and stays there."
Also residing in the Viseu district is Márcia Leite, who presents theatre for the whole family with “Ainda nada?” (Still nothing?), while José Pedro Ramos will lead a theatre animation workshop.
In June, there is a ten-day residency with artists and trainers, led by João Silva, aimed at creating a presentation of “physical theatre from Western Europe with traditional dances from Guinea-Bissau and India”.
That month, there will be theatre for younger audiences with a tour of kindergartens and primary schools of “A Grande Viagem” (The Great Journey), by Car12, and “Cabe mais um?” (Is there room for one more?), carried out by the Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II.
Next Saturday, Ritual de Domingo, based in Viseu, through Cristóvão Cunha, presents a play that “rescues the journalistic memory of the last 20 years” of ACERT in a show entitled “Onde estavas quando leu o primeiro jornal” (Where were you when you read the first newspaper).
