Following the stadium's renovation, completed at the start of the current season, which added 2,000 new seats, Sporting achieved its highest attendance ever, in a stadium with a capacity of approximately 52,000 fans.

The previous record belonged to Sporting's home game against Paris Saint-Germain on January 20th of this year, in the seventh round of the Champions League group stage, which Sporting won 2-1, with 51,428 spectators in Alvalade.

Previously, the record had already been set in the first match after this renovation, in the 'classic' lost to FC Porto, 2-1, on August 30, 2025, for the fourth round of the I Liga, which had brought 50,946 spectators to the José Alvalade Stadium.

In the years preceding the increase in capacity, resulting from lowering the pitch, closing the moat and installing three rows of seats, the record was set in the Sporting-Real Madrid match (1-2), in 2016, with 50,046 fans.
