We work alongside organisations like the Salvation Army and Local Orphanages in Portugal to sponsor underprivileged children to attend our camps, creating an unforgettable experience for all.

Jan and Gill are taking on the Belfast City Marathon Relay race on Sunday, 3rd May 2026, to raise much-needed funds for Camp Sonshine Portugal.

Gill will be running the first 18.5km & then Jan will take over & run 23.5km in this 42km race!

Camp Sonshine Portugal hosts an International Summer Camp each year at the International Evangelical Church of the Algarve in Vale Judeu, creating a safe, fun, & inspiring environment for children across the Algarve & especially those who come from institutions and orphanages to enjoy new experiences, build confidence, & make lasting memories.

Our goal is to raise €10,000 to support the wider work of the Camp, from providing essential resources and equipment to ensuring children have everything they need to fully take part - such as personal items, clothing, & supplies that help them feel comfortable and included, as some of the children turn up with little more than the clothes they are wearing.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help make a meaningful impact and bring us closer to creating an unforgettable experience for these children.

The total cost for 1 child or youth for 1 week of Camp is €160.

Absolutely every gift to Camp Sonshine Portugal supports Camp operations, sponsors campers, equips leaders, & transforms lives.

Both Jan & Gill intend to continue fundraising until the start of Camp in early July.
