Running from 10 am to 4.30 pm the event continues to redefine how the city connects, shifting the focus from late nights to energised and meaningful days. Following two successful editions, including a recent gathering at Docas de Alcântara with over 220 participants, BrewClub by Nescafé, which is an initiative by Alexandre Bettencourt of Lens Teller – Photography Studio, and Miguel Tojal (creator of Arraial da Vila Berta) from Às de Copos – Bar Services, has quickly positioned itself as a growing hub for daytime social interaction. At its core is a simple but powerful idea: bringing people together through movement, creativity, and shared experiences.

“Our professional lives have always been connected to the events industry,” the organisers Alexandre Bettencourt and Miguel Tojal explained, “and in Miguel’s case (co-founder of BrewClub by NESCAFÉ), even more due to a strong focus on nightlife”. However, that perspective has evolved over time. “For our generation, nightlife played a major role; it was where everything happened. But as we have grown older, we have become less interested in the negative side effects that often come with it”, Alexandre shared. BrewClub by Nescafé was then born from a desire to reshape social habits. As he emphasised, “What we truly want now is to wake up early, make the most of the day, invest our time in something healthy, or learn something new”, adding that “at the same time, we still want to be with friends, enjoy good music, dance, and socialise”.

What sets BrewClub by Nescafé apart is its multi-experience format. Rather than focusing on a single activity, the event blends fitness, creativity, and community into one cohesive experience. Participants can choose from a wide range of options, including running, cycling, yoga, cross-training, and workshops in ceramics, coffee, and photography. “We are not just a daytime party with DJs, and we are not just a run club,” the organisers noted. “We bring together people who want to run, cycle, join workshops… It has been exciting to see how people of all ages and backgrounds come together in this eclectic mix”.

This year’s edition takes place on 25 April, Portugal’s Freedom Day, a date that aligns closely with the event’s philosophy. “BrewClub is very much about freedom,” Alexandre explained. “People sometimes ask if we’re ‘anti-nightlife,’ but we are not anti anything. There is a time and place for everything.” Instead, the focus is on offering choice: “What we offer is simply an alternative for those who want to socialise in a healthier way, and we believe that, in itself, is very liberating”.

As Alexandre revealed, “What makes BrewClub unique is not only that it’s a multi-experience event, but that these experiences don’t exist in isolation, they naturally lead into social connection”. This idea is inspired by sports culture, where community often extends beyond the activity itself. “We have always been interested in why certain sports go beyond the activity… and become a reason for celebration and community,” they explained, emphasising that “whether it is running, cycling, yoga, or workshops, the experience doesn’t end when the activity finishes”. Instead, “it opens the door to something more meaningful, the human need for connection”.

The entry to the Coffee Party will be free and open to the public, with M.Dusa starting the music at 12pm and DJ Bones taking over from 3pm. Participation in the Run Club and Bike Club will also be free, promoting an inclusive environment for all enthusiasts. However, due to the limited number of places and the focus on small groups to ensure a more personalised experience, registrations are expected to fill quickly.
