Around 40 athletes from across the region came together for the event.
It was part of the Algarve Judo Association calendar, with support from the Arade Judo Academy and the Lagoa council. As reported by the Municipality of Lagoa, athletes with different levels of disability came together in a really positive, inclusive atmosphere that reflected what judo is all about.

Luís Encarnação, the mayor of Lagoa, also attended, showing the local support behind this kind of initiative and the push for more inclusive sport.
He emphasised that events like this reinforce the role of sport as a tool for inclusion, encouraging active participation and recognising every athlete, regardless of their differences.
The success of the event also depended on the support of several organisations and individuals, including APEXA, coaches, referees, medical staff, athletes, and their families—all of whom played a key role in making it happen.
